By We: Wednesday, 19.03.2014 around lunchtime Dixie, Claus‘ wife brought us to the airport in Coffs Harbour where we cached the Virgin Australia flight on an Embraer 190 to Sydney. Two hours later we took off from Sydney by Singapore Airlines A380 to Singapore and again two hours after landing we took Swiss from Singapore to Zurich with an A340.

Thursday, 20.03.2014 we reached Zurich in the early morning after 28 hours from boarding at Coffs Harbour. Ines and Margrit greeted us at the airport and then we went to Ennetturgi. While Ro and Ines did some shopping We had to update all the NOTAM’s (Notice to Airmen) for the past 11 or so months. By lunchtime this was all done and then We had an appointment with Paul, the Flight Instructor at the Birrfeld airfield to do the annual checkflight, to do the Language Proficiency Check and to fly the missing three hours needed to get the flight license renewed. This was all done late in the evening and by then We was worn out. Very good weather.

Friday, 21.03.2014 was the day to get our Caravan and car ready for the trip to Herisau and Jakobsbad. The Caravan got new tyres and for the car We had to get the numberplates from the Strassenverkehrsamt (licensing authority) at Schafisheim. In the meantime Ro did some work in and around the house. Good weather.

Saturday, 22.03.2014 in the morning We had an appointment with the Medical Examiner in Baden to get his Medical extended. By lunchtime we left Ennetturgi and went to Herisau to visit our mothers and families. Later in the evening we set up the Caravan as our homebase for the next two months at the Camping Jakobsbad. It was heavely raining and next morning there was even some light snow. Lousy weather.

Sunday, 23.03. to Monday, 31.03.2014 we where busy to visit our mothers and families in Herisau, and in addition we had to clear and clean We mother’s appartment, because at the end of January she had moved to the Heinrichsbad, a home for elderly people.

Tuesday, 01.04.2014, exactly two years after we had left Switzerland for our worldtrip, in the early morning hours, We’s mother passed away. But we had come early enough to meet her, and to talk, and to say Goodby.

Wednesday, 02.04. to Tuesday, 15.04.2014 we had a lot to do to organise the funeral and everything that goes with it. In addition We, his sister and brother had to clear the „new“ room in the Heinrichsbad.

Wednesday 16.04. to Thursday, 29.05.2014 the days where filled with visits, meeting friends and families, a birthday, attending a wedding, doing some hiking, doing some Geocaching, etc, etc., both at Ennetturgi and in Herisau and Jakobsbad. Mixed weather, sometimes nice and warm, sometimes rain and a few times some snow. In the late evening of 27. Mai we took the Swiss flight to Bangkok where we reached in the afternoon of the next day. Some four hours later we departed by Thai Airways B474 to Sydney. There we arrived in the early morning of May 29th and at 10:45h we took the Virgin Australia flight back to Coffs Harbour. When we got off the plane Dixie was already there waiting for us and on our way back to Dixie and Claus‘ house we stopped over at Iveco to see how Fidibus was. He was waiting for us with new bushes on the front axle, new shock absorbers all around, coldstart fixed, a new lefthand mirror, manual fuelpump, diesel pre-filter, repaired drain on the fueltank, etc, etc. Dee and his crew did a nice job and it was great to see Fidibus in a good condition! Friday, 30.05. to Sunday, 01.06.2014 it was time for a testride with Fidibus on Friday and we found that everything was working fine but the tyres needed balancing. This was then organised for Monday. The weekend we spent with Dixie and Claus and they showed us around the Repton, Mylestom, Sawtell and Coffs Harbour area. Thank you both very much for your hospitality, your help, your kindness and all what you did for us! We have enjoyed the time with you very, very much. Reasonable weather, some showers but also sunny days. 132 km.

Monday, 02.06.2014 in the morning We went to Coffs to get the wheel balancing done, and this was finished around lunchtime. Then we packed Fidibus and bid farewell to Dixie and Claus. Again thank you both very much. We hope to see you again sometimes, someplace.

Von Ro: Nach einem sehr langen Flug mit Singapore Airlines und Swiss sind wir am 20.03.2014 um 06.15 Uhr in Zürich Kloten gelandet. Ines und meine Schwester Margrit erwarten uns am Flughafen.

Nachdem das Auto eingelöst, Werner seinen Flugschein erneuert und der Wohnwagen, unser Heim für die nächsten 2 Monate, wieder flott gemacht ist fahren wir am Samstag nach Herisau und besuchen als erstes die Mütter. Werner’s Mutter ist in einem kritischen Gesundheitszustand und das ist auch der Grund für unseren Besuch in der Schweiz.

Den Wohnwagen parkieren wir auf dem Campingplatz in Jakobsbad, das Wetter ist lausig, Regen und Schnee sind ständige Begleiter für die nächsten Tage.

Am 01.04.2014 stirbt Werner’s Mutter und nun gilt es so einiges zu organisieren.

Das Wetter wird frühlingshaft, die Wiesen werden bunt und die Bäume blühen, wunderschön. So kann ich mit meiner Mutter fast täglich spazieren gehen und wir geniessen die gemeinsame Zeit.

Wir pendeln zwischen Jakobsbad, Herisau und Ennetturgi hin und her.

Auch dieses Jahr werden wir wieder mit Einladungen überhäuft, aus oben genannten Gründen sind wir froh, wenn Familie, Freunde und Kollegen uns im Appenzellerland besuchen. So können wir schöne Wanderungen machen und haben gemütliche Stunden im oder vor dem Wohnwagen. Herzlichen Dank an alle.

Trauer und Freude waren nahe beisammen, wir durften aber trotzdem eine wunderschöne Zeit in der Heimat verbringen.

Am 27.05. geht es nun wieder zurück nach Australien wo unsere Weltreise weiter geht.

29.05. – 02.06. Coffs Harbour und Umgebung

Nach einem angenehmen Flug sind wir pünktlich um 11.30 Uhr in Coffs Harbour (Ostküste) angekommen. Dixie holt uns am Flughafen ab und als erstes besuchen wir Fidibus welcher noch bei IVECO steht. Es wurde so einiges an ihm ausgewechselt und ersetzt. Am augenfälligsten ist der neue Spiegel auf der Fahrerseite am „hinternfälligsten“ die neuen Stossdämpfer. Nach dem Mittagessen fahren wir nach Repton wo Dixie und Claus wohnen. „Unser“ Zimmer ist wieder für uns bereit und wir fühlen uns schon richtig zu Hause hier.

Unsere Gastgeber bemühen sich uns einiges des australischen Lebens zu zeigen, wir besuchen den Bowling Club, füttern die Hühner der ferienabwesenden Nachbarn, folgen der Einladung von Emma und Diana, haben Gäste und machen zusammen den Einkauf. Werner und Claus sind mit Fidibus beschäftigt und tauschen Erfahrungen aus. So vergehen die Tage im Nu und der Abschied kommt.

Wir möchten uns nochmals ganz herzlich bei Euch bedanken, Dixie und Claus, es war eine wunderschöne Zeit mit Euch und Eure Gastfreundschaft ist umwerfend. Vielen, vielen Dank.
